Cindy Bertrand, Mom and Me Producer, Writer, Puppeteer and Actor says, “There are three common mistakes most mothers and daughters make that keep them from creating the closeness they crave.”
#3 They don’t SEE it.
Let’s face it. Women are sensitive! There are thousands of ways our mothers unconsciously offend, annoy, and irritate us (and we annoy them in return). We don’t mean to drive each other nuts, we just don’t necessarily SEE what we are doing! Not seeing the ways we bug one another keeps us from connecting as deeply as we desire.
#2 They don’t NAME it.
Moms and Daughters often make the mistake of thinking they know what’s bothering one another – but in my experience, they often get it wrong. Any assumption you make about what is going on with your mom (or she about you) will create massive havoc in your relationship.
#1 They don’t FEEL it.
No matter how old you are, you’ll likely have years of unresolved emotional experiences with your mother. Old misunderstandings, little slights and big heart-breaks - you probably have often lurk just under the surface silently threatening our relationships. Science clearly shows unresolved emotional stuff between loved ones can cause everything from backache, to headache, to heartache or worse ...weeks, months or years of not talking to one another! Ugh.
Why spend thousands of dollars and hours of your time ‘working on your relationship” in professional therapy when you can SEE IT, NAME IT, FEEL IT & HEAL IT through some light hearted, deeply moving, unforgettable THERAPY THEATRE?
